The babies have arrived

 - by Brittany

There is a new baby in our house.

I bought this stroller for Ella back in May, but just got it out. She loves it. She has now discovered the baby dolls that have been in the toy bin for a while. And, she takes good care of them.

When the sun shines…

 - by Brittany

We go outside. We’ve had pretty spotty summer with very little sunshine. So when the sun does decide to come out, we go outside and soak it in. This is Jameson’s choice outfit…

Thanks, Mom. He loves his boots, and wears them all the time. Then there’s Ella. She took over my reading spot in the sun.

Oh, how we love the sun!

Open wide!

July 19th, Jameson had his first dentist appointment. I was a little nervous, especially since the regular hygienist was gone. The guy was so nervous, but Jameson opened up like a champ.

Our dentist was so good with him. He said he had great teeth and no cavities. Yay, go me! Not really. I’m not so good with the whole making him brush his teeth every day.

It was a successful visit for Jamo. I had him take a quick look at Ella’s teeth, too. She, on the other hand, might have her dad’s teeth.

You’ve had a birthday, shout hurray!

We’ve gotten to know the missionaries in our ward really well over the last 11 weeks. They wanted to meet with us every week and give us challenges to do missionary work. These challenges were things like, get to know your neighbors, or to create a profile on Mormon.org (which I have yet to accomplish, but I did try.) The missionaries have been coming over every week to discuss our experiences throughout the week. This means, we have gotten to know our missionaries really well. We actually met one of them, Elder Taylor, when he was first out and I was still pregnant with Ella. He was a new missionary and we were in another ward. Now, we get to have him finish his mission with us. It was his birthday on the 5th, so we celebrated with them on our normal Thursday visit with some dinner and peach cobbler. (His request.) It tasted good, but I don’t think it turned out quite like it was supposed to. It was my first time making it, though. I also stopped by the Rootbeer store, and picked up a bunch of different kinds for us to have with dinner. His present? A few rootbeers to go. He had to have at least one present on his birthday, but I didn’t want to get anything he’d have to haul around since he’s about ready to go home.

So happy birthday to Elder Taylor! And Elder Minter is a good sport about all the going home talk. He was a newbie when he was sent to us. Poor guy should not have been paired up with someone going home, but they have been working hard. They have kept us thinking about being good members of our church, and have been fun visitors every week.

Who knew?

(August 2nd)

Ella has finally decided she likes to do more than just eat at the beach. Now she loves to play in the holes that I did for her. The only problem is that she loves to put sand in the hole, therefore, filling the hole.

Ella will usually fall asleep on the way home. Today, Kevin was working from home so I could put Ella down and leave. Jameson and I headed to the farmers market for some snow cones and to pick up fruit to make some jam. We got there, and it turns out it is personal safety awareness day or something like that. That means, that there were representatives from all the different forces there. Jameson got to be a swat member for the day…

They also let Jameson ride their motorcycles, and someone from the task force took his picture.

We also got to visit the marines and the army reps. They gave him a water bottle that he now always wants to use. We finished checking everything out, then got our fruit and headed home. I ended up making 5 different kinds of freezer jams, and who knew that blackberry peach jam is delicious! I might have to get some more berries and make some more of it, because it is so good.

Excitement

(July 30th)

We are starting to gain a personal relationship with our UPS man. Between packages from family, and all the stuff Kevin orders for his various projects, we seem him a lot. My mom always puts stickers on our packages, to add some life to the brown box.

I had the box sitting in our living room, when a friend came over. She asked what company decorates their boxes, and I told her it wasn’t from a company, it was from my mom. Then she looked at the stickers, and told me that wasn’t very nice of her. I didn’t really understand, until a read the stickers.

It was raining that day, so the fact that the stickers said “Singing in the Rain,” and “Totally drenched” wasn’t really funny, especially since it had been cloudy and raining all week. My mom thought she was being nice, since she was being descriptive to our weather, but when you are in the rain, it’s not so nice. We still love getting boxes with stickers on them, Mom! Maybe you can send sunshine sticker? 🙂

Jameson has also been excited lately. I found him like this the other night before I went to bed.

He loves his bike. Every chance he gets, he wants to ride now that he doesn’t have training wheels.

She loves them

(July 29th)

Ella was not too fond of the swings the first time she was on one. I’m ok with that. That means that I don’t have to stand and push her all the time. Kevin came to the park with us one evening, and ruined her. He put her in the swing and showed her there was nothing to be scared of. Great. Now every park we go to, she heads straight to the swings.

Now, she loves them.

Summer days

 - by Brittany

(July 28th)

The calendar says it’s summer, but our weather here in the PNW suggests otherwise. There was an article that came out in July saying that we have had 78 minutes over 80 degrees in 2011. Except that we’ve only had 18 hours and some odd minutes over 75 degrees. Ridiculous, right? The rest of the country is in a drought and we’ve had the cloudiest summer in the last 50 years. Not cool. So when we have a day above 70 degrees, we hit the beach.

Ella loves to eat at the beach. She finally has decided she likes the water, too, but not until she eats. Jameson, on the other hand, wore his life vest down to the water from the car. He ran right in.

We love days that we can actually be outside in shorts little lone bathing suits. The kids love digging in the sand and playing in the water.
